Smoking is a dangerous behavior for health. Nicotine, one of the contents in cigarettes, has a bad effect on the brain. It causes addiction and toxicity on the cognitive function which can cause the decline in the cognitive functions which finally affects the learning process and the achievement. The purpose of the study is to find out the relationship between smoking behavior and the achievement in the study of student smokers at SMA PGRI (State Senior High School) Lawang. The study used correlation study method with cross sectional approach. The population of the study were all student smokers who met with the inclusive criteria. The samples were 35 respondents taken by using total sampling technique. The instruments used were a questionnaire on smoking behavior and observation sheet on their school reports. The results of the study on the “Relationship Between Smoking Behavior and the student learning outcomes class XII at SMA PGRI (State Senior High School) Lawang” done on 35 students showed that their smoking behavior was categorized as mild, done by 22 students (62.86%), and the achievement in their study was categorized as enough, achieved by 20 students. Spearman rank test gave a value of 0.000 < 0.05, so that it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between smoking behavior and the achievement in the study of students at SMA PGRI Lawang. Smoking behavior should be avoided by students so that the achievement in their study can be better, and students should find another alternative to substitute cigarettes.
