Shigella dysenteriae is a virulent species and is often isolated from cases of shigellosis. Shigella dysenteriae is a bacterium with a rod shape, gram-negative, has no flagellum, single, aerobic or facultative aerobic and does not form spores. This study aims to determine the presence of Shigella dysenteriae bacteria in diarrhea sufferers. The type of descriptive research with the data used is secondary data or data obtained from direct observation using the literature study method as many as eight articles. Microbiological examination of bacteria with a culture method on several bacterial breeding media and biochemical tests which state that from the results of isolation and claims in the feces of diarrhea sufferers, it is found that Shigella dysenteriae is still one of the causes of diarrhea, but Shigella dysenteriae is not a dominant bacteria. one of the biggest causes of diarrhea, but many other microbes that are found to cause diarrhea, one example is, the bacteria Escherecia coli, Salmonella, Campylobacter, Rotavirus and other microbes. Suggestions from the researchers hope that people who maintain environmental cleanliness such as dumping garbage in its place, and doing a healthy lifestyle and doing 6 steps of washing hands before and after eating to avoid diseases caused by bacteria that stick to the hands.
