Emotional intelligence is now a concern and a priority. Emotional intelligence or known as Emotional Quotient (EQ) is the most important provision in preparing children for the future. Therefore, it is very important for early childhood to be able to develop emotional skills. One of the factors that can affect children's EQ is the application of parenting. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between parenting patterns and emotional intelligence (EQ) in pre-school children. The research design used a correlation analytic with a cross sectional approach. The population is all parents and their children aged 3-5 years totaling 31 people. The sample used was 31 people. Data collection techniques using questionnaires and observation sheets. Data analysis test using Chie Square test. The results showed that most parents applied democratic parenting with a percentage of 87.10%. As for the EQ of pre-school age children, most of them are included in the high and medium criteria with a percentage of 41.90%. By taking an error rate of 0.05, the X2count value of 16.876 is greater than the X2table which is only 12.59 and a significance value of 0.010. So it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between parenting patterns and emotional intelligence of pre-school age children. It is recommended that in future studies further expand the research sample so that the results obtained are more accurate.
